Welcome to TROOP 493's web page! If you are new to boy scouting, transferring from cub scouting (or perhaps another troop), or just coming into the area and looking for a troop, we hope you find the information here useful when searching for a stable organization to belong to. We were first chartered by the Tidewater Council in 1968, with the Wycliffe Presbyterian Church as our sponsoring institution. We are an active, well organized boy scout troop, ever cognizant of the needs and desires of scouting aged youth. The boy scout program constitutes one of the most wholesome and significant developments of our day, striving to maintain it's relevancy in today's ever changing world. Character, Citizenship, and Fitness are the foundation of the three (3) parts of the Scout Oath, and twelve (12) points of the Scout Law. Troop 493 prides itself in being an anchor for these stated values. Feel free to review our web site, and stop by a troop meeting, Monday nights, 7:00pm - 8:30pm, at 1445 N. Great Neck Rd, Virginia Beach, VA 23454 (Wycliffe Presbyterian Church). We'll be happy to have you consider us as a part of your scouting family.
